Clogged Pores – What You Need To Know

Hair follicles are skin organs responsible for hair growth.  Attached to the top of each hair follicle is a sebaceous gland, which produces oil that lubricates our skin and hair.

The oil moves along the hair’s shaft until the point the hair follicle opens on the skin’s surface (through skin pores).  Sometimes, dead skin cells and excess oils combine to block the hair shaft, causing it to bulge.

Clogged Pores

Bacteria trapped inside the clogged pore then start multiplying, causing the skin to swell and become red.  White blood cells travel to the follicle to fight the bacteria.

They produce an enzyme that breaks the follicle’s wall, thereby allowing the bacteria, dead cells and oil to enter the dermis layer of the skin.  The body then responds by creating inflammations on the skin.

What You Need To Know

If the clogged pore is completely blocked and closed, and if it bulges out from the skin, you get a whitehead.  If the blocked pore remains open, and the surface darkens, then you get a blackhead.  If the pore’s wall opens allowing oil, dead cells and bacteria to travel under the skin, you get a pimple.

Clogged pores that open up deep inside the skin cause nodules or cysts, which can be very painful.  Whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, skin breakouts, nodules and cysts are different forms of acne.

What are the Causes of Clogged Pores?

While many people feel that dirt is the primary cause of clogged pores, hormonal changes, rubbing oily products against the skin, hair shaft blockages and some prescription drugs or cosmetics can block pores.

What Harm Can Clogged Pores Do?

First, clogged pores make our skin look ugly and unhealthy.  That is reason enough to start treating them as soon as they raise their head.  Second, if left untreated, they can cause whiteheads, blackheads, pimples cysts or nodules.

Cysts and nodules are very painful and can spoil lifestyle quality.  A dermatologist should treat cysts and nodules before they cause any more damage by spreading bacteria or infections, or by causing acne scarring according to scar removal specialist Sean Lowry.

How To Cure Clogged Pores?

  • Cure Tip #1: Until the time your clogged pores are opened, avoid using moisturizers, primers, sunscreens, makeup, creams and facial oils because such products can further block the pores.
  • Cure Tip #2: If you have dry skin, moisturize it with natural moisturizers like honey.
  • Cure Tip #3: Start using BHA (Beta Hydroxyl Acids) products for 15 days.  These should work, and if they don’t, move to the next step.
  • Cure Tip #4: Try combining a BHA product and oil.  BHA works by loosening the clogs and the oil works by scraping the clogs out of the pores.
  • Cure Tip #5: If this treatment does not work, try products that contain AHA (Alpha Hydroxyl Acid).
  • Cure Tip #6: If this too fails, work with a prescription retinoid.  Retinoids are a class of compounds that are based on Vitamin A.  Retinoid creams work by unclogging pores, smoothening skin, and boosting collagen production.
  • Cure Tip #7: If the prescription retinoid fails to work, combine it with a BHA product and an oil cleanser.

If you are affected by clogged pores, these cure tips and careful skin cleansing will help you understand where they are coming from and how the treatment works, and you can treat it at home.

But, if you want to permanently eradicate your clogged pores and related acne symptoms try a natural remedy that’s safe and effective.

Best Place to Natural Clogged Pore Treatment

Clogged Pores TreatmentWhen I first started suffering and in deep distress, all I wanted was to find a reliable treatment remedy quickly hoping to download it for free.

I was finally cleared up in middle age when prescribed Retin A and an erythromycin cream. For the occasional cystic pimple, I was given a clindamycin dabber. Those cystic pimples were the bane of my teenage years! Clindamycin is like a miracle drug! I treated a budding blemish several times a day and it would go away before blooming! Awesome! For back zits, I started using a back brush in the shower. My back cleared up and back pimples were rare thereafter. I still use the back brush at least once per week, even at age 63.
